HOT beams of modern blasphemy (ongoing)
“Hot Beams of Modern Blasphemy” is a political art series, recalling on iconic images where cultivators of popular culture utilised their platforms to act as stakeholders in societal change. The series reappropriates images of the past associated with activism and recontextualises them for a contemporary audience and its social concerns. By reappropriating placards and written word to neon, the messages are emphasized and modernised, comparing current concerns to those of past decades bringing those movements forward into a modern dialogue. Each photo series aims to feature an intersectional group of representatives from the local community who stand by the concerns represented by each set.
